Rev. Dr. Jean V. Wilson
was born and reared in Mt. Vernon, New York. She attended Mt. Vernon Schools. She is the sixth of nine children born to the late Matthew and Victoria Middleton. Dr. Wilson has one child, Cynthia W. Ushry who is married to Stanley and they have two children, Sheldon Body, Jr., and Matthew A. Ushry; they reside in McDonough, GA.
In 1974, Dr. Wilson received her B.S. degree from Savannah State University in Savannah, GA. She graduated from Gammon Theological Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA in 1992 where she received here Master of Divinity. Dr. Wilson received her Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio in 2002.
Dr. Wilson was a member of the Fire Baptized Holiness church from 1966-1991. She was the pastor of the New Solomon Temple FBH Church in Atlanta, GA from 1981-1991. After leaving the FBH Church in 1991, she joined the United Methodist Church where she served as Assistant Pastor from 1991-1998.
In June of 1998, Dr. Wilson was appointed as Senior Pastor of Asbury Mt. Olive UMC in Topeka, KS. where she served until 2002. In June of 2002, Dr. Wilson was appointed as the first African-American Associate Pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, a 5,400-member majority caucasian church in Indianapolis, IN. where she served until 2005.
In June of 2005, Pastor Wilson was assigned as the Senior Pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville, IN.
